During our 5 years of Daffodil Teas Phil Maddocks Editor of our local paper always featured a lead up and follow up of the teas.
The first year was a small section and we grew to having a full page spread and photographer from the paper. I am very grateful to Phil for finding space to include The Daffodil Teas.

Text from 2011 Tea and Tweets

Tradition and Technology worked together to make The 2nd Annual Daffodil Tea a success once again this year. The tea, sponsored by the Charles River Vineyard Christian Fellowship, was held at The Riverbend School in South Natick on May 7th but money continued to come in until June 1st on the Firstgiving website created by Heather Reid a local Natick resident whose 31 year old Kenneth died of Mesothelioma in 2009. Last year Heather and her church hosted a Daffodil Tea serving tea and scones for this worthy cause and along with a silent auction and donations they raised $3126. This year was a little different because Heather fell at the end of February and broke her shoulder and she was of work for 10 weeks and could not do all the things she did last year. This is where everyone gathered to help. Her friends from church washed and packed 72 china cups for the fair. Others baked delicious cakes for the new cake stands and many created hand made gifts for the silent auction. Heather’s two sons ”Tweeted” their friends asking for donations in memory of their brother and requests were made on Facebook blogs. The online donations came from in from as far away as New Zealand and reached $2,628 before the page closed June 1st! Nevertheless the personal touch is always the best and Heather remembers a whole community who helped out and a 98year old lady Sadie who came to the tea. She sat drinking her tea and said to Heather “This is just lovely. I have china cups in my cupboard at home and I think I will bring them out again. I hope you have this tea again next year.” Heather reassured that next year the 3rd Annual Daffodil Tea would take place.
