Preparations were started well in advance this year. Cups and boxes were labelled for easier set up. I dyed aprons for the volunteers to match the tablecloths. Our sons thought it funny to have T shirts marked Security since each year the number of attendees kept increasing! One of the art students from Walnut Hill School made a sign to put out on the street. The morning of the Tea Chrisje appeared with felt Daffodil pins to give to everyone.
Once again there was a wide variety of handmade products to buy. Pillowcases, small baskets and aprons. A student from my dorm at WHS crochet a tea cosy and a friend of a friend in Florida made dish “ scrubbies.” The kindness of people was quite amazing. Once again the selection of Silent Auction items were so creative and even more people donated, including CD’s from three of our former music students from WHS.
The holders given to me from Andrew and Melissa’s wedding were perfect to hold the names for the color co-ordinated tables. This year I did the flowers and although not up to Deanna’s standard they added to the decor quite nicely. Once again my two lovely daughters-in-law helped to serve tea. There is no way that the Teas were so successful if it were not for Kim N, Nancy and Lucy. They baked, set up the tables, served, donated and even helped with the washing up. Kim O continued to donate wonderful items for the Silent Auction which she ran every year to perfection.
